I want us all to stop with the "we are a nation of laws" when those laws can't enforce themselves. Law enforcement officers have one of the highest rates of domestic violence. How motivated do you think they are to ENFORCE a crime they are most likely to COMMIT?

As "wild" as "legalize domestic violence and slavery" seems, how close are US attitudes to that being the de facto law? If the legal system doesn't enforce dv laws, then it is effectively legalized. And prisons exist. Slavery exists within said prisons. It's not acceptable just because "inmates."

If you live in a red state, you may not notice ICE raids, that's because local police depts signed up to help ICE and are doing the work for and with them. Are they getting warrants? Are they profiling you bet.
