I want to talk about a dystopian world we are entering - where every moment, event, and crisis just become commodities.

Life stops being something we live, but something we sell and trade. It will breed both corruption & emptiness.

Today's @publisherslunch.bsky.social reports that trade books sales skyrocketed this past season.

"That makes it the second-best October recorded by the AAP, next to the massive sales of $1.042 billion in 2021, which was the best year ever for trade book sales."

Go buy a book.

Interesting: "Studios are still not fully realizing the potential of these booktok hits."

THE HOUSEMAID: Over 2M copies sold. A built-in audience. A 3-book series. Plus: No expensive dragons, locations, etc.

And there are SO many booktok books that readers would support, either for film or TV.
