Kristi Noem, herself, supplied the method used to ID the agent. She said he "been dragged by a vehicle” in an earlier incident.

@startribune.com reporters, who know their way around court records, quickly unearthed his name and confirmed his identity.

“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive.” -- James Baldwin
this is why teaching history feels so important to me right now.
The thing I always come back to is how many people never despaired against longer odds, and how arrogant it would be to put myself above them.

Was just thinking this.
I want the media to understand just how close what happened today is to where George Floyd was murdered. 0.8 miles.

I find that there is nothing almost but bawdry at Court from top to bottom. How much of this is true, God knows, but it is common talk.

So a week ago I slipped on some ice and broke my wrist. It's been reset and I'm not in much pain anymore. Still waiting to hear if I'll need surgery. But it's my dominant hand and I'm pretty helpless so I'm kind of losing my mind. Also if I owe you work or an email, sorry!

Statement Re: OU Discrimination Investigation

Today, my client, Mel Curth, submitted her appeal of the University's Institutional Equity Office finding that she engaged in arbitrary and capricious grading of a student's assignment in violation of that student's religious liberty.

I keep asking myself if I can do this for another 10-15 years and I just don't know.
One of the reasons I’m glad I retired from Professoring before the 2024 election is seeing Universities cave to right wing pressure.

The U of Oklahoma’s decision to remove Mel Curth from her teaching position for failing a student who quoted the Bible instead of a reliable source is one example.

As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

Why are we being told that all the good stuff from our earlier years - like having undergrad mentors - has suddenly become disposable and unnecessary? The subtext seems to be that the kind of human development we enjoyed - the kind of people we became via education - is & are no longer welcome.

there's probably an essay to be written about how bizarre it is that the union leader who wrote a book about the role of educators in fighting fascism can't seem to grasp that many AI/tech CEOs are themselves deeply invested in promoting fascism.

A friend was processing the George Wallace collection at the Alabama state archives. She sent me a copy of a letter to Wallace parents asking him to not “stand in the schoolhouse door” in June 1963. It was from my parents.
I think we need a mega thread of everyone's craziest archive stories.
