Got to disagree with Eric on this one. I think big difference between the two. Dont want open borders, need to have some border security. The way Dems went about it totally different. Mostly violent folks and not green card holders or other folks here legally, no talk of stripping citizenship

True, the left loves to overstate what Mitch got done
this isn’t really true? the main political consequence of mcconnell’s intransigence was that obama won reelection and democrats kept their senate majority. to the extent that mcconnell helped trump win, it was after republicans won the senate majority.

i think if you post like this without offering concrete steps people can take to prepare for and respond to interference or without any acknowledgement of the success (or lack thereof) of this strategy then you are basically engaged in voter suppression.

One thing been thinking about with the current Democratic Party, as much as I don't take much issue with them, I do think we need to change in order to have long term success as a party.

At this point the leopard is gonna end up with digestive issues.
The co-founder of Latinas for Trump is now condemning Trump’s ICE raids:

“I’m afraid of someone stopping my son.”

“This is not what we voted for.”

I think important point I heard is Trump is acting from a position of weakness not strength. He can barely keep things contained in Minnesota and it seems dubious he can do this in a larger city.

We could have had Connor Lamb or Malcom Kenyatta but hey Fetterman was a Bernie Bro yo!

Time to go back to the drawing board on immigration enforcement because ICE can't be reformed and has to go. We also need accountability when the Dems win again, then we can have unity.

Agree on all 5
James Talarico in Texas
Graham Platner in Maine
Dan Osborn in Nebraska
Mary Peltola in Alaska
Julie Gonzales in Colorado

A better U.S. Senate that fights for working people is possible. Democrats, it's not enough to just beat R's. We must elect folks who will stand up for us.

Naw we lost mainly due to inflation, would have been a bigger victory for GOP if Trump wasn't extreme. Additionally due to immigration, people thought we had an open border. Also enough with Bernie was cheated. Dude didnt win base of the party and more voters chose Hillary/Joe. Voters have agency.

This is a 100% true, there is not much more that can be done and lot of what left wants done is a fantasy.
It’s funny that for many people it’s a depressing thought for people that “voting Democrat and getting more people to vote Democrat for the next many elections” is the easiest way to reverse all these bad things.

let's say the president wants to suppress the vote in detroit. assuming a conventional 20 soldiers for every 1000 civilians ration, he would need more than 12,000 ICE agents — more than double the current number of field officers — to occupy detroit and only detroit, a city of 630,000 people
imho people are focusing on the words "cancel the midterms" and saying uh actually a president cannot do that at the expense of what they would actually try to do, ie send troops/ice into liberal cities to suppress the vote
the question to ask about this is, okay, he wants to cancel the midterms. how does he get the VA state board of elections to cancel the midterms? how does he get the georgia board of elections to do it? how does he convince republican house members to quit their jobs and give up their paychecks?

Let's be clear I've never been a big fan of the GOP but they used to be sane and respectful of the rule of law, inside the US, god I hope we can get them back to that.

Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

May be a circle
Big overlap between “Democrats won’t fight” people & “Trump’s not as bad as Democrats say he is” people.
