If you’re applying to your dream lab for an internship/PhD/postdoc, always send a second email 1-2 weeks after the first one if you don’t hear back.

I promise we will be grateful rather than annoyed. My email inbox is a disaster and I’m quite junior - and very few of us have secretarial support

Do zebrafish regenerate their hearts equally? In our new paper at the @tillymommersteeg.bsky.social lab we uncovered variations in the regenerative response of 7 wt zebrafish strains leading us to identify a critical role of oxidative phosphorylation in long-term heart regeneration.

I spent a summer at the NIH as a CRTA and it literally changed the trajectory of my (scientific) life. I’m heartbroken to see this administration dismantle science and universities in the US 💔 and feel lucky to live in a place that values science and scientists 🇩🇪
One of the many, many “pauses” and cancellations devastating our next generation of researchers. “The NIH Intramural Program has paused the recruitment of IRTAs, CRTAs, and Visiting Fellows in all training programs pending guidance from Health and Human Services. Check back daily for updates.”
