The president of the United States posted a video of him defecating on the American people. Many in my profession normalized it. This is a big reason why we are where we are.

“Fascism” isn’t a slur for politics we don’t like. It’s a precise word with precise meaning. And in the face of what’s happening right now in America, it’s the most honest one we have.

I’ll lay it out as plainly as I can. 🧵

The last political column I was allowed to write in the @washingtonpost.com was a criticism of Obama.

His people took issue with my piece, but we were respectful.

Now he is tweeting in support of me.

This is how free political speech and respect for debate *actually works*.

Or used to work.

What’s particularly galling is that SOME oil companies have developed techniques that allow them go to reuse a ton of the water for other jobs rather than disposing of it and using freshwater for every job. I know bc I worked for one. But, no, just have them dirty up rivers I guess.
In Texas, thanks to fracking, "oil and gas extraction is expected to yield 588 million gallons of wastewater per day for 38 years, far outpacing the levels of oil produced"

This is why they're letting frackers dump wastewaters into rivers: The volume of water being used is mind boggling.
Texas OKs releasing treated fracking wastewater into rivers
Supporters call it a drought solution; critics call it a public health risk.

Rubio’s remarks appear to reflect the president’s frustration with the difficulty of achieving peace in Ukraine after Russia’s 2022 full-scale invasion.

In addition to the apps suggested by others in reposts, Waze has a “Map Chat” feature that can be used to pin a photo and text to the Waze map, so…might be an option?
Communities are organizing ICE patrols using radios and megaphones—but what we really need is an ICE alert website where people can share details of ICE activity in real time to help protect and inform one another.

Number one tell that DOGE is a sham: how quickly they are allegedly working. Even if they stuck to the job they're supposed to be doing (updating crucial services), it would take YEARS and also require the insight of the people they told to stay home/fired.
What we're seeing borne out of DOGE now is panic as the realization sets in that they can't suddenly 'fix' all the digital services the government relies on.

These things go slow because they're really really REALLY complex systems. They are not something you can fix overnight.
