My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

Hard to process this attack on Venezuela. The greatest political lesson of my youth, one that was hammered home to us all over nearly twenty years, was that the U.S. should stop engaging in regime change and oil wars. And yet, here we are again.

Today, @azohra.bsky.social and Madiha Tahir argue that recent criticism of the Trump administration's bombings in the Caribbean risks repeating a familiar mistake: debating how the United States wages war while leaving unquestioned why it wages it at all.
Beginning with Empire
attacks on alleged drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean have been widely condemned for violating international law. Yet much of this criticism, by focusing narrowly on the Trump…

Perhaps now people will stop wishcasting about the US military refusing illegal orders. That's not a thing that happens. The 100% compliance rate with using civilian boats for target practice was a bit of a tell.

I'm deeply sorry to the people of Venezuela. There is no opposition party in the United States to counter the fascist regime's actions and the population is easily demagogued.

The US aggression against Venezuela is naked imperialism. All pretext has been exposed as farce. An invasion would cause tens of thousands of deaths. Every sane person must oppose this madness.

As Trump drags us into an Iraq-style war in Venezuela, 312 members of the House — including 115 Democrats — just voted to authorize over $900 billion in military spending.

Last month, 115 Democrats in the House and 28 in the Senate voted to give Trump $901 billion in military spending.

Dems may stomp their feet about Trump illegally bombing Venezuela and abducting its leader, but if they truly opposed the attack, they wouldn't have voted to fund it.

Let’s be very clear: Trump’s bombing of Venezuela is not about drugs or democracy. It’s a war crime.

We must stand firmly against this illegal and belligerent act of war. No war with Venezuela!

Three million people live in Caracas, five million in the metro area. It's one of the densest cities in South America. Remember this in the morning when they try to spin this as anything other than a cold-blooded attack on a major civilian center.

There is no moral, legal, or political justification for the US to attack Caracas. None.

Don’t entertain the musings or of those who claim otherwise. This is a city of 3.2 million people, and their lives are not fodder for parlor debates.

Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

Mamdani won on affordability, but the real keyworld for the left’s challenges and opportunities is SPEED. Biden was slow, opening the door for Trump 2. Mamdani get it though: deliver fast or die.
