Just once I want a Frankenstein adaptation that makes the Creature properly uncomfortable to look at. I’m sure GDT’s film is great and I’m still going to watch and enjoy it, but the makeup design on Elordi still leaves him human and attractive enough that viewer identification isn’t a challenge.

Ryan Murphy’s Monster is a completely inscrutable show with profoundly chaotic vibes. Each season is more about the act of thinking about a famous killer than it is about any individual killer. It’s stacking frames of reference that very quickly and very profoundly lose sight of the referent.

I remember there was a whole cottage industry of “get a load of what the stupid President said!” during the Bush years. There were like three or four Bushisms books. But somehow we’re getting absurdist shit like “Everything is computer!” and “It can only good happen” and nobody has monetized it.
