The Art of Angel’s Egg reprint (released this month to coincide with the 4k restoration) is a great way to revisit a long out of print book. For fans of Mamoru Oshii and Yoshitaka Amano it’s worth picking up though like the name suggests it’s really just artwork, very little text.

I keep seeing blatant whole-hog ripoffs of Shin-chan and Yuasa. clearly I love that stuff too but at a certain point it's like "ok yes we all know this internationally beloved series and world-renowned auteur. you got anything else?"

I'm visiting the UK soon, please advise me on what to see! definitely staying in Cheltenham and visiting Bristol, staying in London as well as probably up to Yorkshire for a bit. any cool shops, museums, exhibits, cafes, pubs, parks, whatever you got!

The cool thing about indie animation is that you can make whatever you want however you want without being bound by the restrictions of a studio/network/etc. But then everyone just wants to show you how close they can get to making something that looks like the stuff on TV.
