First cassette I ever bought, from the local drugstore when I was 7 or 8. Played it on my mono cassette player endlessly, then joined the Columbia record club to start growing my collection. Fell prey to Styx denigrators for many years but have since come back around to appreciate their awesomeness.

Did my yearly Tacoma brewery tour today. Happy to report 3 of the 4 I visited had a black IPAs (aka CDAs) available. Auspicious start to the new year for sure. 😜

I'm so not a game player. Every once in a while I open one of my few mobile games and it immediately spams me with tons of free shit in the hopes I will start binge playing. Even the games I do play (Word Cookies) I'd rather figure it out myself instead of spending the 50k coins I've accumulated.

So very tired, but I couldn't let 2025 end without taking stock of Microsoft's embarrassing treatment of gaming, Windows, and indeed human beings while it chases the AI money train
Microsoft's year of shame
Can't make a few trillion dollars without ditching game developers, going googoo gaga for AI and supplying tech to the military, I suppose!

Have to admit that one of my favorite genres of YouTube videos these days is @acollierastro.bsky.social talking about why billionaires are just so incredibly dumb. Because OMG it's so true. People need see beyond the buzzwords and recognize the BS they are spewing.

Whenever I hear that "albums are dead", I think it's incredibly short sighted. In the past, you would buy an album based on a strong single or two, or based on past commitment to an artist. You sank your hard-earned $$$ into it, and when you listened, you would try hard to justify your purchase. 1/3

I seem to be one of the few with no Spotify account, but if I did here's what would be in my wrapped this year: ALT BLK ERA, Apoptygma Berzerk, Perturbator, Depeche Mode, Chevelle, TMBG, Styx, Scars on Broadway, Nothing More, Electric Callboy, Slipknot, Kasabian, Kiki Rockwell, The Warning.

Heh, as an 80s kid I always thought Loverboy was hugely underrated compared to their peers. IMO they deserve a similar level of love to Journey, but seem to be largely forgotten. This was a fun reaction video to "Turn Me Loose", especially the octave jump in verse 1. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi2h...

Rob Reiner directed some of the most beloved movies of all time, including Stand By Me, This is Spinal Tap, and The Princess Bride. His production company also made movies like The Shawshank Redemption, Before Sunrise and Michael Clayton. The film industry has lost one of its titans.

Just finished dress rehearsal for this weekend's performances of Messiah. I signed up with yet another choir this year in order to sing it in its entirety with orchestra, and it does not disappoint. 20 choruses and they're honestly all bangers. The real challenge is to not oversing until Sunday!

As a choral singer I'm super into traditional church music myself, but TBH this is absolutely badass, no notes.

Decided to listen to my random singles collection today. Sadly most are MP3s from Amazon, but it's pretty fascinating cross-section of music I grew up on plus music from the 90s-00s when I moved to the Bay Area plus a smattering of random newer stuff that caught my fancy.
