MetOp-SG-A1 ( @eumetsat.int ) is now transmitting some data from its MWS and 3MI instruments!

Received by @redplanet00.bsky.social.

3MI can be in color, however automating the process will take a bit of time. Support will be pushed to SatDump very soon.

NOAA-15 was decommissioned today at 15:26 UTC, with its AVHRR/3 Instrument still in better state than the last 2 remaining on MetOp-B & C.

It wouldn't be so disappointing if this wasn't done for the wrong reasons... Makes you wonder what happened to NOAA.

Receiving @eumetsat.int's MetOp-SG A1's X-Band Direct Broadcast.

It is 93.3M QPSK (Huge... Bigger DB yet). 1/2, RS 223 I=4 otherwise with both convolutional vectors swapped. All as expected...

Now we just need to wait for EUMETSAT (or well, @esa.int for now) to turn stuff on! :-)
First reception of Metop-SG A1 at my station with @aang23.satdump.org
and his Aaronia Spectran V6!
Signal strength about the same as JPSS-2, but without nulls. About 10-11 dB on a 33° pass for my 1.2 meter Andrew dish.
Signal is filler and telemetry only now, no instrument data yet.

Just got the news that the US Navy will *not* be stopping distribution of DMSP data in the end!

As of now it's planned to keep SSMIS data distribution until September 2026.

Demodulating MTG-I1 raw data @ 26Ghz received in Panska Ves. It is 188M OQPSK 1/2 and RS I=5.

Unfortunately, it is encrapted. It's very disappointing considering it's supposed to be public life-saving data...

S-Band is not encrypted.

ISS SSTV @ 145.8Mhz is seriously weak this time around...

Usually would nearly overload and here it barely gets decent at TCA.

This means weather centers could very well use #SatDump to still get the data they need for hurricane analysis, right now, in real time, with simple equipment. WSF-M also coming.

It was recently announced that DMSP SSMIS data wouldn't be available - so with @lego11.bsky.social we decided to add support in SatDump :-)

Still lacking more samples (IQ) to do projections, but we can already process SSMIS data. Calibration is likely possible as well.

Today, UVSQSat-NG was at 5M BPSK (instead of 2.5M the previous days). The same images are yesterday were sent in large, at a higher compression ratio.

Here's 2 of the new ones.

I can confirm that our client, @uvsq.bsky.social , operator of UVSQSat-NG, downloads between 20 and 80 megabytes per pass with their Adrelys AGS-3 ground station... running Satdump ! ;)

We are very proud to have been involved in this project, both on the ground and in space !

Today's UVSQSat-NG Dump (@uvsqsat
). This time it dumped at 2.5M BPSK.

Over 120 images received total. Here's a few.

UVSQSAT-NG on S-Band. Doesn't seen to be very circular in polarization however.

Et voilà ! PD120.

A long-requested feature in SatDump : SSTV Decoding. It'll be present whenever the first 2.x.x versions drop. Here, an example decoding some Robot 36 IQ from FRAM2.

PD120 and a few more are supported, but it's still very experimental of course, and I need to optimize some awful test code ASAP :-).

Playing a bit more with Jason-3 data (now over 10GB worth accumulated over a few weeks, except during FRAM2) while working on what will become SatDump v2.0.0 :

The South Atlantic Anomaly is very clearly visible in LPT data. Not 100% certain but this normally is a channel @ ~22KeV.
April 6, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Jason-3 carries a microwave radiometer. Unlike those like MHS, AMSU, MWRI, etc, it only scans a single point at Nadir meant to correlate with the Poseidon-3 radar.

Therefore, from a single orbit... You won't see much. And even with 20+ of them, it isn't awesome, but you can see stuff! :-)
