Everything outside the umbrella.
There’s a lot of safety and security in music I think and it can feel like a shame to hand that over to some corporate entity (and the many deities of wireless communications) after spending time curating your own collection.

Return to iOS is fairing equally well, I appreciate FaceTime and iMessage for the two people I actually use it with, but I’m finding myself still missing the 3.5mm headphone jack and an SD card slot.

I really want one of those 12.5” Thinkpads with a maxed out SSD so I can just store gigabytes of samples on it for Renoise. Preferable if it doesn’t run W*11 tbh.
My visuals laptop serves me well and does a great job heating my flat in winter but sometimes you just want something a bit more nimble.

Going to work on my own sample library anyway next time I’m down south.

Anyone tried those Anker q20i’s?

Got a beat up pair of akg k52’s and I’m slowly coming to the realisation that decent noise cancelling headphones might be a better shout than the comparatively more expensive ones I was planning on mixing on, because I definitely travel more than mix.
What sounds good that doesn’t break the bank?

I am often asked for advice about 3D (resources, workflow, etc.), so I would like to write a comprehensive blog post with all the answers I can think of.

If you have any specific questions you would like me to address, feel free to ask them in the comments.

Binary Synth is heaps of fun. Especially for minimal stuff, I just used a tiny .ds_store file (you see them all the time if you go back and forth between Mac and Windows, tiny files anyway) and it gave me this.
If anyone’s got any fun ideas for using this with Renoise let me know!

Really tempted to treat myself to a pair of noise cancelling wireless headphones and check out Cantilever soon. There’s a lot that hinges on the quality of the curation but it’s a lovely idea to combine it with a more journalistic aspect to fully immerse in the selection.

I rarely get to write about Croatian experimental music releases – because there are so few of them – so I'm extra happy when something as excellent as Rob Mazurek's encounter with Roj Osa (Alen & Nenad Sinkauz, Marco Quarantotto) comes along.

I reviewed their album 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘰 for @thequietus.com.

First impression is really good!
Putting these plugins here for when I can get around to trying them. If you don’t already know SoundThread maybe have a look. It’s very very cool!

Might be cool for databending too but then breaking stuff digitally doesn’t feel like much of an escape anymore.

When I see things like this I feel like blogging on counterpoints to creativity as manufacturing process.

I’m not adverse to the concept in itself but if the focus prioritises result over shared experience, how do we build connection and foster compassion in a world that is often shockingly cruel?

Probably just need to delete all my unfinished projects and go back to school on flex and pickup machines and teach myself to shred again.

Sequencing in Renoise and mangling in OT is probably the way to go in future tbh. Trying to make a full thing in the box just ends up blagging my head a bit. Fun though.
