Takanakuy is held in some parts of Peru where entire villages ring in the new year by getting drunk and beating the crap out of each other. The idea is to settle old scores and grudges, and start the new year with a clean slate. The results are legally binding. It's unclear how healthy this is, but it certainly can't make political debates any worse.
