Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

Instead, we have the most grotesque details of the punishment approach. Forcing people fleeing a war zone into administrative limbo for two decades is obscene. It is the opposite of what you would do if you gave a damn about integration, or the dignity of refugees.

97.5% of the people Trump arrested in Chicago had no criminal record

100% of the people Trump pardoned for Jan 6 had criminal records

The difference is the former are mostly Latino & the latter are mostly white. This is systemic white supremacy in 2025. If you still don’t see it, you’re complicit

I cannot stress this enough, as with Patel, Braverman, Sunak et al, do not bring Mahmood's background or religion into your arguments against policies. Racism is racism, no matter how "progressive" you think you make it sound. Counter the ideas, the inhumanity, the cruelty.

Refugees & asylum seekers are largely a vulnerable, traumatised & disadvantaged group of people so to keep demonising & scapegoating them for political gain is disgusting & despicable. The end doesn’t justify this punching down means & in any case the end here seems to be the propaganda itself.

There's lots you can and should criticise the BBC for.

But it's our BBC - and it's important.

Great to speak to CNN - Donald Trump shouldn't have his hands anywhere near our public services.

"This is sociopathic behaviour"

"He is toxic, misogynistic, racist"
