A major victory. A federal judge has ruled that ICE must stop targeting peaceful protesters and legal observers who are not suspected of any crimes.

“Simply put, ICE Watch does not spur violence; it reduces it. It’s based on de-escalation tactics that have long historical roots in American antiviolence and civil rights movements, as well as a strong theoretical foundation… about why violence happens and how it can be prevented.”
For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

Told ya
Held: Many of the ICE agents that drive by have their phones up to the window..I don’t know why, but part of the lawsuit you alluded to earlier alleges that ICE is using an app that can take a picture of a face, identify it, and store it for 15 years.

The fact Schumer is still willing to fund DHS should OUTRAGE all of you.

ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
Vehicles that are abandoned due to an ICE detention and towed to the City's impound lot will be released to their owners or a representative at no cost.

I talked briefly with a civil side DOJ attorney at Christmas Mass and she said her colleagues on the criminal side are leaving in droves. her own workload hadn’t changed yet but she says everyone is having the conversations with themselves about where the red lines are and the mood is so dark
Any DoJ attorney who participates in this investigation should suffer professional and social shunning that makes it effectively impossible to continue to work as an attorney.

Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.
Breaking news: The Justice Department has issued subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as part of an investigation alleging that they are impeding federal law enforcement officers’ abilities to do their jobs in the state.

This is a war on women. Our bodies, our voices, our rights, our lives under attack.

They can try to control us, erase us, punish us, kill us. We will fight!

Renee Good is no longer here because ICE wouldn’t let a doctor help. They must be stopped!

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

Israel bombed two houses in the central town of Deir el-Balah, killing six, including a 16 yo.

Please understand that this is what "ceasefire"/Not A War ALWAYS LOOKS LIKE. On any given day, Israel might send planes/missiles/drones, or snipers might shoot someone for getting to close to the barrier.
As the US announced the second phase of the so-called ceasefire deal, Israel killed 10 Palestinians in Gaza yesterday.

Israel has killed at least 451 Palestinians, including over 100 children, since the start of the ceasefire.
