Ainos (modern Enez/Edirne) was a fortified city on the Hebros (Maritsa/Meriç) River near the Aegean coast. Alexios I used it as his headquarters during his wars against the Pechenegs. After the Ottoman conquest of Morea (Peloponnese), Ainos was granted to the deposed despotes Demetrios Palaiologos.

Features of a nuclear blast (1.6Mt) that you don't normally see in archive films: shockwave from 40 miles away knocking people to the ground and shattering windows... as well as the enormous dust and ash cloud long after.

This is one of the more unique nuclear test films I've ever seen.
Here is an impressive, declassified Soviet film of the RDS-37 test, including a scene showing four men in Kurchatov, the administrative secret city about 40 miles east of the test site, being knocked to the ground by the explosion’s powerful, rapidly-moving shockwave (which also shattered windows).

One of my favourite photos from the Thames Foreshore this year, view from Wapping Old Stairs across the river to Rotherhithe. Taken on a gloomy weather day just like today, an eerie Thames mist took us by surprise as it appeared from nowhere and rolled silently upstream, shrouding the landscape.

Since the 'blessing' of holy water is actually not a blessing but a minor exorcism, an acolyte who is implicitly an exorcist could potentially claim to be able to perform it

Going even deeper into this rabbithole, it's arguable that even an instituted acolyte (that's a properly authorised acolyte, not just a rando performing the role of acolyte) can make holy water, since the order of acolyte is above that of exorcist in old minor orders, and thus implicitly contains it
In fact you don't even need a priest - deacons can make holy water too. And you can bypass even that requirement by getting holy water from a shrine such as the well at Walsingham or St Winefrid's Well; some churches even have a whole cistern of holy water you can fill up from, too

#RomanSiteSaturday - The well-preserved late Roman defensive walls in Le Mans, France, are among the best examples of their kind after those in Rome and Constantinople. Originally, the walls encircled the city for a total length of 1,300 meters, and today, more than 500 meters remain intact.
