Not sure that the stated problem "the largest science crisis of all time [...] erod(ing) people’s trust in research" is best solved by Academia taking back control of publishing (which I feel is the underlying theme). Could just as well be interpreted as Ivory-towerism, if not carefully implemented.

shows how this situation compares to a prisoner’s dilemma, explains the connection with predatory journals, and outlines solutions.

Last week, President Trump removed key protections from a marine protected area that's home to coral reefs, whales, sea turtles, and countless fish. My op-ed for @us.theconversation.com explains why that's bad and we should not do that.

Trump is stripping protections from marine protected areas – why that’s a problem for fishing’s future, and for whales, corals and other ocean life
America’s marine protected areas help fish populations thrive. Trump’s plan to open them to industrial fishing may ultimately harm the fishing industry itself.

Pretty disturbed by some of the Kremlin framing on the Trump talks being bought by parts of the media worldwide. It’s as if the genesis of the war is entirely forgotten. This isn’t a conflict which needs mediation. It was an unprovoked act of aggression. It could end tomorrow if Putin just withdrew.

Depressing to see that #google is participating in fake news and humoring a deranged president. Nobody outside of the current US administration are calling this ”Gulf of America”, so why are you? maps.app.goo.gl/SBSaxoeCY5if...
