Nice to see more people here. I duck in now and then, but mainly hang out on Masty @Lukas@aus.social

It was worth the annual subscription for this editorial… too many great lines.
Editorial: This week Pete Hegseth stood beside Richard Marles and Penny Wong and endorsed AUKUS. It was another moment of performative embarrassment, pretending everything is normal as a half-drunk innumerate sex pest shakes you down for $368b. satpa.pe/Kesssic
Pete Hegseth and the AUKUS folly
The man who sets Australia’s defence policy is an alcoholic former Fox News commentator who is known for his gross financial mismanagement and on at least one occasion paid a settlement to a woman he was accused of raping.

Yep terrible. The grimmest take i have encountered so far is a walkthrough of the gunmen’s home on News.com.au “Inside million-dollar home of Bondi terrorist” brought to you by realestate.com.au.
News.com.au

Yep, it’s vile. The blame pile-ons and narratives are hideous and must be awful for those whose love ones were killed less than 3 days ago.

Note to Sussan Ley: if the comments you’re choosing to make right now are identical to what Pauline Hanson is saying, you’re what she is.

Oh no, now I don’t need to watch this

I really hope you are wrong, but things are really grim.

At this time, I think this contemplative koala seems apt.
You've seen this photo before but you probably need this little guy now.
Sleaford Bay, Eyre Peninsula.

Incredible the entire press gallery is actually buying the line (promulgated by Netanyahu!) that Albanese is personally to blame for the Bondi attack.

No one is actually explaining how firing academics for opposing Israel’s genocide would stop two people who never went to uni from this shooting.

Thankfully, at least for me, personally, TBH

Was Pauline Hanson wearing *her* burqa when she spouted this incoherent drivel?: “The [PM] never heeded the warning signs, including the weekly antisemitic protests across our nation, hate speech from certain religious clerics, our obnoxious universities and probable terrorist alert.” #Bondi #auspol

If you don't have an account with either, you are allowed in.

When asked about tightening of gun laws: "Families are waiting by the bedsides of their loved ones ... my heart breaks for all of them. With that in mind, this is not a subject I am going to discuss today."

Ley can make demands about a flawed report, but can't make demands about flawed gun laws.

This says everything about the hypocrisy of the opposition rabble at the moment.

They could get an accurate guess based on Spotify/Apple Music playlists.

Thrilled for you to join Linkedin.

My heart breaks for the members of Jewish community who the targets of this unfathomable violence. Cheap political points belittle this horrific loss.

Now is not the time, or is it ever, to listen to a mass murderor.

“Electric cars are no more dangerous for pedestrians than petrol and diesel models, researchers find.”

They’re also no safer. Which reminds us that “better cars” aren’t the main answer to the consequences of cars. The main answer is fewer (and smaller) cars driven less frequently in better cities.
EVs 'just as safe for pedestrians'
Electric vehicles (EVs) are no more dangerous to pedestrians than traditional petrol or diesel cars, according to a new study.
