An 18-year-old who was shot on Witchduck Court last week has died in the hospital.

A few miles from me is Witchduck Rd, named for what was done to Grace Sherwood, "The Witch of Pungo." She was repeatedly accused of being a witch multiple times by people blaming her for their own agricultural misfortune or mistakes - literally for a cotton crop failing once.

An entire area of Virginia Beach is named Witchduck. It was named after the method of testing a witch known as “Witchducking” If you floated=witch. If you sank=☠️ and innocent. Spoiler alert: most sank.

I feel a *little* better now that I know who to blame, but not much.
