#vimwiki
setting up my vimwiki sync turned out to be quite the journey.

my main laptop runs windows because of crappy college requirements (and because i don’t want people seeing what i work on when i connect it to a projector). my other machines usually run pop os or debian. on windows, i use wsl2 […]

there's a lot of fun tinkering that went into syncing my vimwiki files between my computers. firstly, i use wsl2 on my laptop, and after extensive failures, i concluded that port forwarding is not possible. then i settled on installing syncthing on windows to sync the vimwiki folder, which also […]

i had no idea vimwiki was made with the thought that someone might want to have two different wikis. it’s a bit odd for a personal wiki plugin, but that feature is a lifesaver. i can just ws and get prompted to select the wiki i want to open. also, ww opens the wiki that’s listed first in my […]

i currently use vimwiki, but i’ve cluttered it so much that it’s barely usable now. either i need to clean it up or just switch to something new.

today i came across another tool. something for people who don’t want to get into vim (though i still don’t get why anyone wouldn’t).

Troquei Obsidian pela Vimwiki

Obsidian ainda é muito melhor que o Notion, mas é muito bom nunca precisar sair do Vim

I've been using vimwiki for almost a decade now, never failed me. And since its just markdown, it's works with newer stuff like Obsidian with zero configuration.

i love the simplicity of vimwiki, but the problem is that when writing down my ideas or thoughts, i don't want to choose how to categorize them. i use + ww to open the vimwiki index page, but the categorization part adds too much friction.

i do miss my vim environment and i miss journalling in vimwiki

maybe I'll put void on the R61 and use it for that...

i do not have an excel spreadsheet because looking at spreadsheets make me feel like it's work and that makes me sad

but i do have something objectively worse: an entry in my vimwiki (personal wiki plugin for Vim, relatively analogous to orgmode if u use the Bad Text Editor) at Todo/Camera_List.md

vim触り始めて100年経つけど基本的な操作とひとつまみのプラグインしか使わないから未だにvimのことなんにもわかってない。
強いて言えばvimwikiにはもう随分と長い間お世話になってる。私の知と記録の集積。

Knowledge bases are important! Whether mindmap, wiki, whiteboard, commonplace book, for yourself and anyone after. Vimwiki or B&R notepads were my gotos, but for long running projects I’d steal a whole wall of whiteboard to keep track of structs, methods, new to us patterns, and gotchas.

literally me.

I even switched to vim wiki for my personal nba depth charts because every single website is subpar when it comes to it.

That is your sign to switch to neovim with the vimwiki plugin.
