Exactly. It’s a win win. Tignish PEI is a fantastic model for coops. Fisheries COOP employes 452 founded in 1925, grocery, hardware, fuel, sawmill, feed mill, furniture etc. A credit union and a seniors home care cooperative too. The 744 residents have never waited to get what they want.

At one time the province had decent rail coverage connecting many of the communities all the way from Tignish to Elmira. Sadly, cars have taken over and the rail system has been removed. Confederation Trail, a hiking trail, uses the former rail line.

Cool! I was born in Bathurst, ma fadder born in Moncton and everyone else on the Island.
We lived up west near Tignish. With strong Acadian roots, the dialect wa totally different to rest of the Island. It's faded a lot. I can still do it but the slang is almost all gone

There was a time when laundry would go out on the clothes-line in the middle of snowy winter, & later come into the house "stiff as a board", laid over chairs, drying racks, railings & the most refreshing clean air scent would fill the house as the pieces dried. 📸 Mike Gaudet❤️ From Tignish Talk

(The Confederation Trail was formerly the railroad but is now a gravel track that stretches from Tignish to Elmira, or basically to within 10-20 km of each tip, and ‘promises’ gentle grades)

I once spent a long weekend in Tignish, and just about every mailbox on the highway to Skinners Pond was labelled Arsenault or Gallant.
