There have always been dragons among therians. Here's a convo from 1996 between some dragons in AHWW, the group where therianthropy began, back when therians mainly called themselves weres. No mention of 'kin. groups.google.com/g/alt.horror...

If you go back far enough to its infancy, therianthropy when it still used "weres" was mostly just wolves. But it expanded to include other types of weres that weren't wolves (then phenotype, then today's theriotype)

Yeah therianthropy and otherkinity developed separately, but dragons have long since been present in both, although "they have different beliefs" is shaky (a wolf therian and a wolfkin are virtually the same. The differences are highly up to the individual)

im aware of “theriomythic” and in my opinion it goes against the core concept of therianthropy. ultimately people can say whatever they want, i just dont understand the aversion to the otherkin label.

Therianthropy started with werewolves in particular with like AHWW, but that very quickly snowballed into a wide variety of creatures. Dragons co-existing in draconic or otherkin-specific spaces doesn't cancel out they've historically been among for years. Like @frameacloud.bsky.social

It's strange. My therianthropy has always been so tied to my identity as a trans... entity, they're – I suppose paw-in-paw.
I hadn't considered it from the perspective of someone who isn't also trans. I see them as the same issue, though it may upset some to suggest.
Only, one is less actionable.
