The comic pages vs the inspirations

a character I've gone back and forth on with their design is Shela and while I'll keep the witch look she's got now I'll rework her proportions again at some point. either way she's mostly a healer with some fire magic too.

WHITE PARTY This issue will drop mid-September, so we’re going to cheat the date A LITTLE and make this an END OF SUMMER/BEGINNING OF TERM open house GARDEN WHITE PARTY for the students’ family and friends. Think breezy summer smart casuals, suited to characters’ individual personalities. Some fashion suggestions if you’re stuck (but feel free to free-style): Cerebella A cute summer dress. An elaborate hat she abandons. Morgan Red A smart button-up, bowtie, and khaki shorts. Shela A breezy, easy summer dress. Aaron Gets it wrong – a white tee, but his usual blue overalls. Brielle Hmm – should we trend a little butch-er? White pants? White leather jacket, even? Up to you…what does a goth wear? Justin Very bro – short white shorts, polo. Had to do it to em. Normie Nails it – white khaki shorts longer, button-up short sleeve. Red bowtie (that is Rascal). Lunella A cute kids’ summer dress. Some moon or dino details? Blackheart Formal and chic – white blazer, slutty tank-top under it, red rose in lapel. Immortus His exact full Kid Immortus armor/cloak, but palette-swapped white. Carol A gorgeous, effortless floor-length dress. Dior? Mettle White knit blocky tank/tee; long linen board shorts. Hazmat Princess top and white jeans? Jayden Polo or knit shirt, khakis. Rebecca Snug shirt; pleated/palazzo pants. Safron Caulder Perfection – stylish and breezy, tasteful. Hae Ran Jin A lace slightly old-ladyish blouse; white pants. Norman Osborn White linen suit, with white tie. Pristine. Green details he can’t help. Stanley Osborn Short shorts with suspenders, bowtie. Stage-managed by Norman. Lunella’s Parents White polo; cute dress. LETTERING: This issue will be a one-time return of the long-dead but proud tradition of THOUGHT BUBBLES! Our thought bubbles here are all BEING PERCEIVED BY CEREBELLA, our POV character. This means we can think about how that might shape the perception. I can think of a few ways we might do this interestingly: a) Bubbles can be SMALLER or LARGER depending on the THINKING CHARACTER’S PHYSICAL DISTANCE and URGENCY – a character further away from us may have a smaller bubble, for example, or a muttered thought smaller than an alarmed thought. b) These bubbles can be OVERLAPPED, IMBRICATING, OBSCURED, and otherwise CONFUSED. We want to replicate the churn and confusion of being a psychic hearing multiple voices at all times. We do not owe these thought bubbles complete coherence or legibility – and indeed their illegibility will at various moments be important. c) These thought bubbles could (and I think SHOULD?) be SEMI-TRANSPARENT, performing their “ghostliness” as evanescent effects and not wholly obliterating the art behind them. This will both keep the art easier to read AND replicate the feeling of Cerebella walking through a hazy, half-visible world. It will also help with the fact that necessarily the inclusion of thought bubbles increased how much text is in panel – since each spoken line also precipitates a thought. We can play with this effect as we like, but perhaps for maximum legibility the font might be solid and the bubble either half or, say, 2/3rd transparent? Up to you/taste. The issue is also narrated by CEREBELLA– i think her caption boxes could be in a lovely PINK like her psychic power signature/brain? That might particularly pop against our garden white party. COLORS: This issue is centralized around its WHITE PARTY, and I want us to think about a palette that emphasizes pretty, floral, pastels. Whites, lavenders and mint/sage greens to celebrate the last of summer (and against which Cerebella’s hyper-pink power signature will POP).
