I prefer to draw in ruled notebooks over blank sketchbooks. sometimes the big white pages make me feel like I need to get it right on the first try, but notebooks are for doodling and figuring the shapes out. it’s easier for me to let go and figure out how I want to draw something.

for seven years I struggled with carpel tunnel and tendonitis. I couldn’t doodle or draw regularly. I had drawings swimming in my head at all times with no paper to put them on. Only this year am I recovered enough to begin doodling again to this extent. I’m realizing how much of my creativity was suppressed as I let myself make “bad” art. with my ability limited for all those years, drawing became something I strategized to maximize my output in as little time as possible (as to not hurt my wrist). I felt the pressure to constantly create, and to get it right in as little tries as possible. I’m trying very hard to unlearn those beliefs now.

Please take care of your body. I don’t wish what I went through on any artist.
