Halfway through Sarazanmai, crazy to think this is my first Ikuhara anime
For others, it's Sailor Moon or Utena, but I got the kappa, desires, and anuses Ikuhara anime instead!
Pretty great, bizarre and amazing with some beautiful art style

They've gone from niche stuff (Sarazanmai, Garo, Kids on the Slope) to mainstream hits (Ranma, Vinland Saga, Hell's Paradise, etc).

utena is also probably my number one choice, if i only had to pick one for someone to watch! sarazanmai is my favorite ikuhara work in terms of themes, but utena was just really helpful in stimulating my love of symbolism and analysis ☺️ esp. in a visual medium

obligatory homestuck mention, otherwise sarazanmai and wonder egg priority are two of my all-time anime favs but both have some elements that other people find off-putting. and that aside wonder egg priority slides off the rails and swan dives into a train wreck finale so there's that too lol
