Didn't think Irish Sunday night TV could ever get more depressing than Glenroe but now they're showing Mrs. Brown's Boys on RTE1

I'm watching & enjoying Hidden Assets on RTE1. But, like a lot of other stuff on TV, there's way, way too much background music in it. Some scenes are meant to be quieter - it helps to set the tone and mood and allows the viewer to be in that moment. It also makes the dialogue easier to hear.

The Irish Book of the Year 2025 will be announced this Thursday, December 11th on RTÉ1 at 10.15pm. We want to congratulate our colleague - bestselling and now award-winning author - Gráinne O'Brien, on being nominated as one of the top six Irish Books of 2025! 🥳

Watching Kevin Dundon on @rtetoday is always such a joy. Nothing ever goes quite right, but sure it's grand! #RTE1

The Name Of The Rose is on rte1 on saturday night. I first saw it as a teen. Watched it with my mother. Those who have seen it will remember the explicit and quite extended sex scene in it. 30+ yrs later i still feel the extreme cringe of it.

A formative movie moment 😂

The description of the show on RTÉ1 right now is in Welsh. Full solidarity with our Welsh comrades. The show seems to be in English.

omg. I spent the morning on 695/95, and then returned, which means I spent the morning and part of the afternoon out there. Ugh. Today was a very stupid traffic day. Fortunately, I thought to hop off and spend part of the drive going up rte1 so I could enjoy seeing Conowingo Dam and Port Deposit.

Never heard that station. I listen to the 11-12 Sunday slot on RTE1 more out of respect to Marian Finucane than any grá for O'Connor. But that's my limit. The ENDLESS ad's, even the for profit doesn't that that level of p*&&.

I fell asleep on the couch late afternoon. Woke up to RTE1 telling me about women flying home from Dubai on the regular to represent the parish. Go fund mes, the lot.

For some bizarre reason I had this mixed up with my own life. Imagining me getting go fund mes to take a DIY course and go to Croker

Halal Daddy is on RTE1 after 11 tonight. A fun Irish film iirc.

Before I start I want to give a quick plug to the documentary by @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social that's going to be on today on RTE1. The land of slaves and scholars will be on at 10:35 and I'm looking forward to it.
Good luck at the awards ceremony this week blindboy.

Have you seen any of @mattbaume.bsky.social videos? Does a great one (in fairness they're all great) on this. I would have missed this as its a teeny bit earlier 80s for me apart from RTE1 reruns of older sitcoms in the early 90s

That was a gorgeous episode of 'Build Your Own Home' on RTE1 just there - Harrison Gardner supporting the Clare Island community to upskill and upgrade their camping facilities.
A really lovely reminder of the power of the meitheal. Gardner is a joy as a presenter too.

From Robert Vaughan:
There is a radio documentary on at 3pm today on rte1 about the Ring Ouzel. It was recorded in Donegal during the summer, and is about the decline of the species, and the work being done to help them.

Old family pics are the best. Myself and my brother in the middle in our Simpsons t-shirts despite only having RTE1 and 2 and never having seen the show.
