I think once I've caught up on my remaining comms, I want to spend next year focusing on blender (and blockbench) practice and try to seriously draft something out in either ren'py or rpg maker for fun

📌 Potion Stand Story is a visual novel/shop sim I made in 2024. It was inspired by Lemonade Stand (yes, the 1973 computer game). I started off trying to make a Ren'py clone of it for practice and uhhhhhhh 🍋💥✨

🎮 itch page here!
🛒 merch here!
☕ it also has a gallery on Ko-Fi.

today also updated my sci-fi RPG Planet Stronghold 2 to 1.1.3, which now uses Ren'Py 8, fixed some missing images, and added an extra feature: AUTO button in pre-battle screen to quickly setup your team #indiedev #gamedev hopefully didn't break anything else 😅

Another week... another pile of finished smutty bondage art for my game. Tomorrow I'll dig in and try to finish the scene these belong to in Ren'py.

If your taste in men is like Ohno from Genshiken... this one's for you.

Micro-indie "process.":

Me word-vomiting Ren'py gobbletygook at my spouse for three full minutes until I figured out what I needed to do with my coding issue.

Me: OK, figured it out, don't worry if you weren't listening.
Spouse: I wasn't.
Me: That's what I thought.

NPF just hit 250,000 words. I'm going to have plenty to work with when editing in January. XD

I finished a new free notification plugin for Ren'py. You know those boxes that say +1 affection, +1 strength? You can instantly drop those into your game. The best part is it's customizable too!

So, I was sick of trying to make an update video, especially with the home life that I have soooo I decided to make a Ren'Py Visual Novel that talks about project updates, LOL

I understand why it is the way it is (and Valve are infamously hands-off with this anyway) but I do wish these were more standardized. I saw one game a while back that, if I'm not mistaken, flagged a standard TTS program in their disclaimer, if that's AI everything made in Ren'Py also uses AI.
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

Me vs Ren'py coding

I fought with its frustrating structure that lies to you. Lies! A tutorial is supposed to work not make me go, "Well that was a lie!" For an hour.
But I got it working.
Now I can finally tackle the thing I started back in July.

FOUND THEM! Long-abandoned files in an old project folder from 2022

Sharing these here for y'all, sloppy photobashed background art and clumsy writing and all 🥰

One pitfall of making branching narrative games is that as the author you tend to fall in love with one or more branches which makes them become more canonical in your head, to the point that imagining players choosing the others can become frustrating.
