fun spare time project – enabling pastoral care in parishes by sending emails when government warnings are issued within them. half a dozen clergy in my Diocese have signed up already.

use case: say there's a fire in my part-rural parish. I am alerted, and am able to provide care 😊

I watched this one on Saturday. I really do think it's slightly different to the other two, that are more straightforward whodunnits. The film places almost as much emphasis on Jud's psyche than it does on the mystery. He's a very believable "good priest". Someone who cares, very pastoral.

I mean yes I agree with you on all of that; however, Tolkien explicitly constructs Sam’s character to be far less complex, having such minor aspirations compared to the others, that the outward expression is “Sam is Simple.” He’s pastoral in a very English way - which Tolkien admired and venerated.

easily one of my top five games

such a lovely little blend of mindless explosive chaos, random exploration, and lots of peaceful and pastoral elements, and a lovely soundtrack with this gem

Well the problem isn’t the ruralness of the areas its that we don’t bother to invest in building them out properly, you can get a railroad out into the wilderness of Appalachia, you just need the political will to bother, also there needs to be a massive exorcism of pastoral farmland
