#octopods
Walking where I've never walked because I'm not an amusement park seaside town person. I prefer quiet beaches. Such towns always look worn even during tourist season. But this is so wonderful. Made my day. Octopods being among my top five favorite creatures.

Hi @dannastaaf.bsky.social, wonder if you can help me. If I'm writing about cirroteuthids, is it most 'normal' to term them cirrate octopuses (or octopods?), or cirromorphs, or cirroteuthids, or something else? For a popular text. Thanks so much :)

Octopods! I really enjoyed drawing these critters. I have one with white text on a dark background, and one with black text on a light background. #linkinbio

I have to finish up my octopods for Trans Lifeline donations first! I keep getting orders! We're going to break $1000 U.S. raised in just four weeks from tiny blobs of wool!

I have received the only yard of the gay mermen fabric left for sale* in the US and it’s even cuter in person! Now I have to figure out how to use it best for @ourfamilyourfight.bsky.social

to this day i still find it insanely funny that oversized octopods are just in s2 and are nearly functionally identical. the only differences are in certain parameters, and the fact it doesnt fly back upon death (which was only added to normal octopods with s3)

So far in January, I've sold $676 worth of octopods at a local Philadelphia coffeeshop and donated the entire amount to Trans Lifeline, plus fees. Community support, one felted blob at a time.

Very cool! I love octopuses?...octopods?...octopi!
Do you have a favorite fact about the Large Pacific Striped Octopus?

The best examples of Sexual Mimicry are basically all Mollusks and other invertebrates. Think Octopods, Squids, the odd Sea Slug or two; that sorta thing.

The term is sometimes used to describe intersexing; most commonly seen in dual-sex examples rarely spotted in insects with dramatic body types.

Billions and Billions.

It depends on what you call a "civilization". If its a collection of cultural dependencies and a huge network of communication .. then there are already a couple on this 1 planet alone: ants; bees; whales; octopods; maybe humans; bacteria ...

Maybe we can learn to communicate with octopods?

The café hosting my octopod fundraiser has been our local hangout spot since the high schooler was born. Here's a photo of me with the girls from 2016, the first year we sold octopods. Hamilton on my t-shirt, my Snape book on the table pre-TERFpocalypse. The before times. Photo by Matt Godfrey.

January fundraiser time. Put up quilted wall hangings and octopods at my local café, 100% of proceeds to go to Trans Lifeline (octos) or Transgender Law Center (quilts). My tiny jot of color and whimsy in this painful timeline.

Last week while discussing animals with some friends i forgot that octopods don't have bones because i had seen a skeletal octopus somewhere. I'm allowed to be stupid sometimes.

Octopods

OH MY GOD the mental image. I can see it scrabbling around like octopods on land. 🤣

They’re evil octopods and deserve to be eaten.

I am uncomfortable eating a creature that is clever tool user, able to figure out screw-top jars: no chimps, no octopods, no random strangers.
December 10, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Absolutely the fuck not

These creatures are too intelligent.. too resourceful.
They can and likely will escape. And since farming practices now are exploitative... It will not end well for the octopods and the environment
December 10, 2025 at 3:54 PM
THEY ARE TOO INTELLIGENT

Like, deadass... Octopods are also resourceful... They climb out of tanks, they can take small strolls. THE SPACES THEY CAN SQUEEZE INTO

They can also open things. They're curious and all of them will escape. Which would be awful on so many fronts.

Do not farm octopods
December 10, 2025 at 3:45 PM
Morality of eating intelligent life aside I am against this because I dont want to keep looking over my shoulder for when wild octopods find out and start teaming up to liberate the farmed
