So far in January, I've sold $676 worth of octopods at a local Philadelphia coffeeshop and donated the entire amount to Trans Lifeline, plus fees. Community support, one felted blob at a time.

Ever wish someone would walk you through the Occlumency chapter and explain what was going on? We give it a try here!
Ever since Lorrie and JC started this podcast, this is one of the chapters they have looked forward to discussing most!

Me, staring at bedroom ceiling: "Will this thing write itself? Y/N."

Husband: "N."

Right. I got up.

Grateful for the women's event at the U.S. figure skating nationals. Profoundly good stuff.

It's strange to realize the last Nationals I watched live was 20 years ago. It doesn't feel that long ago.

The café hosting my octopod fundraiser has been our local hangout spot since the high schooler was born. Here's a photo of me with the girls from 2016, the first year we sold octopods. Hamilton on my t-shirt, my Snape book on the table pre-TERFpocalypse. The before times. Photo by Matt Godfrey.

January fundraiser time. Put up quilted wall hangings and octopods at my local café, 100% of proceeds to go to Trans Lifeline (octos) or Transgender Law Center (quilts). My tiny jot of color and whimsy in this painful timeline.

Heh. The "Avatar State" Mooncat colorway really does glow.

At what age do you stop being "middle-aged" and start being "old"? Asking for me. (In internal maturity, I'm still working on becoming a grownup someday. I'm much closer than I used to be, thank goodness.)

All the decorations at Fezvi's Mediterranean Grill in Cherry Hill are beautiful, but these pomegranate bud vases are my favorite.

My first time trying magnetic nail polish. Bloodbender colorway from the Mooncat Avatar collection. Love it.

All set for cozy Christmas reading with darkly delicious novels by @joannechocolat.bsky.social and mendiants I made in tribute to her heroine, Vianne Rocher.

It's that time of year when yarn shops advertise their bulky and super-bulky yarns. 😆 Knit faster, everyone!

I am choosing to keep this essay permanently unpaywalled. It's about the general idea of people reaching their artistic peak later in life, and the amazing art my parents have been producing in their 60s and 70s (much of which has made its way into my books):

For the exact same reason: hound your friends to donate to trans rights orgs and individual fundraisers more than policing their pop culture consumption choices. THAT'S what makes a real difference.

I read the novel VIANNE by @joannechocolat.bsky.social in one sitting today, even though I'd had it from the library for quite a while. I didn't know why today. Then I found that December 4 is a special day in this novel. ❤️ The book was magic and I'll reread CHOCOLAT now.
