We think so, yes. A modernized Eastern Line would rely on branch service to Newburyport and Rockport to create high frequency from Beverly south; we don't think most trains would short-turn.

The MBTA has been thinking about this on the Newburyport/Rockport ("Eastern") Line and the results are abysmal. Too much of the traffic on the line is past Salem/Beverly, so quite a lot (around half) of the traffic from Salem to Boston would remain diesel.

i haven’t stopped thinking about Ducks, Newburyport since i heard about it, do i know anyone else here who’s read it?
