Is it illegal for guests ever to call out the sheer idiocy of a question or addendum’s framing? It’s fine to be civil & professional in general, but at a certain point, stomaching such raw naïveté at best & malicious complicity at worst w/o laughing in their face or just calling it out is too much.

Their response — “in hindsight, mistakes may have been made, but it was just out of naivete” — is just shockingly tone-deaf.

""In hindsight, mistakes may have been made, but it was just out of naivete," Russ McMahon, a former administrator, said of the ability Epstein had to access the campus." Dude, y'all allowed an endowed Pedo Lodge at your children's camp, mistakes were definitely made.
How Epstein and Maxwell used an elite Midwest arts school to prey on girls
Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell lavished money on the Interlochen Center for the Arts to gain access, documents show — even funding an on-campus lodge they stayed in. In the process, two teenage...

‘Mobility and relatively unrestricted internet speech are not privileges afforded to Eileen Gu alone. While most fans are adoring of her triumph, the digs at her comment’s naivete highlights the rarefied space in which she dwells.

The original FUDGE license was composed with all of the enthusiastic naiveté of the time - you could do anything, unless Stephen said you couldn’t.

And SoS was a good guy. He only said no once, to a quite egregious case, but the POSSIBILITY he could hurt it as a commercial option.

Um, what about the people who think Vance may throw a wrench into global affairs because that is what he was chosen to do? And if he wasn't willing to do it no one would have picked him as Veep.

This is just terminal naivete from writers who think they can cover politics without considering power.

The 'Epstein class' defense:

'I was naive to how kids would use my product.

I was naive, foolish, and gullible to put any trust in Jeffrey Epstein.'

They created their wealth, I imagine, thanks to their "naïveté", right? 😏🤮

🙄🙄 a billionaire claiming naivete? How strange, they all seem like know-it-all pricks to me. He must have just tripped and fallen on all the little girls.

In my truly staggering naïveté, I thought some things might get better. That maybe public health apparatus would improve (instead we have ol’ brain wormy running HHS, and USAID was gutted to death). Or that work from home would finally become the norm! HA! God, I was so stupid.

That’s lovely. I also journal and have been specifically journaling political events and how it has been affecting me. It’s hard to read back what I wrote and predicted a year ago this month, a mix of naïveté and doom but mostly spot on to what’s happening. I knew what was coming. 😩

The smiling fool, Mr. Hassett, smiles because he knows as long as he can lie to the public and just smile, not laugh at their naivete, the pay checks will keep coming.

also the plot sucks and has this streak that isn't quite reactionary but feels like it has naivete in a way that's damaging to my ability to enjoy it; shackled by history while also being so rose-tinted about core players that it's not an interesting or true-feeling depiction but none of this is new

You keep saying these things "can't" happen. When very clearly, they ARE happening. Now you can say that they are unlikely to be enough to stop the outcome of the elections or that it's unlikely to be at scale, and that may all very well be true. But saying it CAN'T happen? That's just naivete.
