Linux is so user unfriendly, there are so many quality of life features that are simply lacking, compatibility issues galore etc.
i get that if you use it for 2 years it gets better but no thanks

back to macs though: not only does the bootloader support multiboot. It also supports per-os security levels so you could dual boot macOS and linux side-by-side without compromising the macOS experience.

Apple silicon macs are actually surprisingly open: iBoot (the bootloader) allows multiboot out of the box, apples EULA even explicitly allows it apparently.
Sure iBoot has apple specific requirements to boot (needs apple-specific device tree, only boots XNU) but thats reasonable

Problem is, I tried to add the new Japanese install to my current multiboot config for the machine with US Win 98 and DOS/Win3.1, and well... I messed up the mbr. Now none of the installs will boot, lolllllllll... 😭

got this gem running on physical hardware, with a 7800 GTX and an FX 6300 on an MSI 970A-G43 plus motherboard running windows me (this is an experiment for legacy multiboot systems)

It "supports" the GBA. There's some nice unique tricks buried in it, like the multiboot packer, but the default hardware library is very incomplete. You can install libtonc as a package, though, and Butano can use Wonderful as an alternative option.

Ja, da solltest du noch dringender wissen was du tust und am besten auf verschiedenen Datenträgern installieren, da M$ gerne mal nebenbei Bootkonfigurationen bei Multiboot-Systemen kaputt macht.

Hört sich eher wie ein typisches Windows-Problem an, die Rüben haben schon immer Stress mit USB. Rufus braucht man nur für Windows-Murksereien, Balena Etcher macht das Gleiche wie ein Standard dd unter Linux. Bei Multiboot schießt gewöhnlich auch Windows quer.
