I think the point the game is trying to make is that mafuyu legitimately cannot speak with her mom until mafuyu gets given the space to be herself and be stable and independent because when Mafu6 happens she just ends up falling back into just accepting everything her mom tells her

ohh i haven’t seen that yet, that IS interesting especially since we’re seeing there may be some parallel between mafumom and kanade lately. i think kanade recognizing that would force her to step back and reflect on herself out of concern for mafuyu, which would be an interesting angle.

literally like. the most i've actually read is main story and skimming some of the later stuff (mostly mizuki's events, and like mafu6). i want to read it but vns play so badly with my adhd! it suuucks

it’s likely the story wanted us to think mostly of mafuyu when it came out. i think looking back when we now have the full version as well as the new context in kana5 and mafu6 makes it hit a little harder. i think this just adds weight to the idea mafuyu/niigo will help kanade in the end.

but then, when we get to the last chorus, it switches from kanade -> mafuyu. i think it’s incredibly interesting if we interpret that flip as story progression. i think it’s notable kanade’s emotional “don’t leave me alone” line is right before said last chorus.

Composer's notes below. A sense of unease; something not right below the surface, huh? Sounds about right for Kanade right now

(I'm curious as to whether they're going to tackle the fallout from mafu6 or wait for mafu7 for that)
I created this song with the theme of a feeling of unease that lingers, similar to a cloudy sky. I aimed to create an atmosphere where a slight sense of unease lingers beneath the cute surface through carefully chosen rhyming words and catchy melodies that will get stuck in your head. Overall, this is a song that captures fleeting emotions that linger in your heart, even when nothing extraordinary happens. I'd be happy if you could somehow relate to this song.

I've seen a rare few talks about how Mafumom basically pushed her enmeshment far enough to qualify as emotional incest & like especially when mafu6 came out since shows so how damaging it was below the surface even w/now "good intent".

Definitely not talked about enough. (mostly seen on tumblr)
