Death toll rises in Iran as anti-government protests spread
At least 16 people have been killed during a week of unrest in Iran, local rights groups say, as protests over soaring inflation continue to spread across the country, prompting violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces. Deaths and arrests have been reported through the week both by state media and rights groups, though the numbers have differed. Reuters has not been able to verify the figures independently. Social media footage shows cars ablaze outside a police station. (Reuters/social media) The protests are the biggest in three years and while smaller than some previous bouts of unrest to rattle the Islamic Republic, they come at a moment of vulnerability with the economy in tatters and international pressure building.

Just read a local government story that was essentially "here's what was written on a facebook page about the town's bond rating" without a single quote from anyone in municipal finance — of which there are hundreds in CT!

Do we really need newspapers to be facebook aggregators? Who is this for?

The entire Venezuelan government at the national and local levels is crooked and self-serving. That won't change without Maduro. And it is all about the dirty crude oil that Venezuela sits on, not about drug trafficking. Our military should not be involved in this illegal attack on another nation.
And there you have it

He’s also searching for a country he can treat like his personal gulag, where he can send people without interference from the local government. No need to pay anyone to take them—just drop them off and walk away.

A proven cost-effective preventative measure being hamstrung by the local body meant to provide it because they've not been granted the funds to do so is the archtypical British government story.

If they decide to make a habit of this, it won't be long before they knock over a government for some local tin-pot-wannabe who doesn't actually have the juice to take control.

For one thing, large, powerful states are controlled by Democrats. Even red cities and counties can be influenced by YOU. The leaders of these regions can do a LOT. So if you aren't active in your state / local government, it's time to get to work.

The names of the new leaders will be announced upon completion of the formal procedures for preparing appointments.

The key is strengthening local self-government, community resilience and the ability of regions to protect life and help communities in need.

Curious, where are you? Have you called, written your Congressional representatives or just post open ended inflammatory random post here?

You in the streets, organizing other people to picket in front of your Republican representative's local office? Government OF, BY and FOR THE PEOPLE! That's U!

If you are still on X put in a little effort to get media, companies, local government (traffic, schools, etc.) to leave. I've shared, articles & other posts about it in replies to my original post to provide some ideas of what you might say. And be sure to reward the ones who do have accounts here.
Many people are saying they stay on X because local govs/schools are there or customer support is there, etc.
If you're still there, then please save the image below and post it to agencies still there and encourage them to leave and come here. Do they really want to be associated with this?
