librequake breaks in engoo so i have a bug filed for that.....on codeberg!!!!

no idea what breaks it yet, no promises if i'll dust off djgpp/msvc6 and fix it and make a new release or whatever (targeting dos/w9x). Probably needs more sanity checking at load time.

Is Librequake a good example of a clone made with care and love? It's a free and open source alternative to Quake 1 for Quake-related engines or source ports intended to have mod compatibility

it's a mod for quake, so there's a bit of a barrier of entry, but if you have a legal copy (it's on steam) or use LibreQuake (total-conversion free version of quake) there's some guides on how to mod it.

Same beautiful gpl engine, all free assets made by talented people.
Please give me an unironic list of things that have gotten better over the last ten years because I’m spiraling.

The Quake campaign recreated from memory by the community. Some very accurate outings and some wildly wrong ones too (including mine). It was a blast and playing it in LibreQuake made it feel very bootleg.

There's a ton to iron out, but this is what I have so far for a Quake-derived game. Note that I'm using LibreQuake in place of the ID assets.

The biggest thing so far is being able to switch between three loaded BSPs at runtime as a time travel gimmick.

I think it'd be funny to put a full size raspberry pi 5 in this. Have it do the IR for the piezo, have it control an acoustic Exciter based sustainer, have it control an Arduino based internal tremolo.
