What skill did you master that you will never, even use again?

Many things in librarianing school, including indexing.
What skill did you master that you will never, even use again?

DNA sequencing. Even when I was in that field, it was already frequently being relegated to technicians who did nothing else.
What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

Archival research feels like it’s full of these, but then there’s always one throwback archive with a microfiche machine or a paper catalogue (or, indeed: NARA)

This reminds me of my mother's favorite story of reference librarianing.

I'm a trained librarianing professional, so no judgement :)

Me- OMG must read this!

Also me- (trying to explain why I have usually not read fiction bestseller books to the patrons that ask me when I am librarianing) "Um... I usually read nonfiction."
Hello world! I'm a science journalist, and my current big project is my book, Carcass: The Afterlives of Animal Bodies. https://kristinhugo.com/book/

Today in late shift librarianing wear... appealing to the crow that lives in my mind.

Also since I'm allergic to sequin thread (yep) some of the only ones I can wear.

Wonder if this will be the first year ever that all the Summer Reading winners pick up their State Fair prize tickets on time and I don't have to give them away randomly while Saturday librarianing before Labor Day...

Management is harshing me re: this while doing the librarianing ;)
By the limited powers vested in me I declare it: naptime.

I wear it to work sometimes and occasionally have to explain to the people when librarianing.

I can see I’ll probably need to update the editions on The #StoryGraph as we readers like to have ‘our’ covers on the editions flagged in our libraries.

Librarianing on TSG means I see a lot of older cover book editions, which often means work moving ISBNs around to the newest edition, for example.

When I went to librarianing school in Madison I recall seeing them in fleets now and then. It was not unweird.

My pretty great manager gave me time off from the in-person librarianing to prep most of this after that convo. So yay to that part at least... but they still won't get their schedule.

I'm engaging in silliness, but thank you for going into librarianing

I can't be the only one that thought this?!!??!!?! Nope.

Also I've had to listen to the song in about 20 million (give or take) storytimes while librarianing. Or maybe it just seems like that many.

Now have a sinus headache on top of the infection, but as I got up at way too freaking early o'clock I'll be seeing if I can nap.

If not, it'll be more methy Sudafed before librarianing.

screw librarianing, now there's a dream gig

Have had two vats of coffee and a nap (work up stupid early), will be Saturday Librarianing shortly after I stop for MOAR BOOX at a completely different library system.
🎶Saturday, Saturday, Saturday
Saturday, Saturday, Saturday
Saturday, Saturday,
Saturday....🎶 ....morning is not really great for librarianing but I don't have much choice in the matter.

That was the nicest location I have ever gone to a librarianing conference, and given what librarians are generally paid it was ironic.
