#kerbocharge
#kerbocharge now approved in #sunderland

Now the new Nissan leaf made in wearside, with lithium from brines in weardale, can be charged at terraced homes in sunderland for 7p/KWh

KerboCharge installations are taking place over 30 local authorities.
Other cross pavement solutions are carrying out trials elsewhere.
These aren’t all ‘nice’ neighbourhoods (whatever that means).

Kerbocharge offer a great cable gully, but that dosnt settle the problem of someone else parking outside your house; you dont own the street. And if you live in a block of flats you cant exactly refill with petrol there - thats its a ‘charge speed’ question which is basically solved.

Getting an electric car and doing a complicated dance with the council and Kerbocharge has done this for me (although the signs were always there tbh). My "how much does it cost to run" answer now down to a fine art

So you could live in Sunderland on a terraced Street, work in Nissan. Make EVs or make EV batteries. Made from lithium brine from weardale. Processed in Teesside. Then made into batteries at Nissan and EVs

But the council won't let install #kerbocharge despite government guidelines saying you can 🤷

Surely it totally depends on the price of destination charging?

If I installed an EV charger and cross-pavement solution (ie kerbocharge) which cost me £1k each, then I’d break even in 27 months.

And my neighbours would benefit from the massively reduced charging costs too.

Excellent analysis, most helpful. Thank you. I’d add that some who park outside or near their home can use kerbocharge to run a cable across the pavement. www.kerbocharge.com/faqs

Hi @jamestitcomb.bsky.social

Haven't read all behind the paywall yet but did you cover cross pavement solutions like #kerbocharge ?

Or see the government guidelines to councils to set this up for those without off street parking?

Britain’s driveway divide is killing the case for electric cars
It doesn’t make sense to buy an EV when they cost more to run as well as to buy

This allows much more affordable EV charging, with public charging attracting a 20%VAT charge, but home electricity only being charged 5%.

Solutions like #Kerbocharge #Gul-E #Greenmole and #TrojanEnergy allow this for people on terraces for example.

About 65% of Brits have off street parking. Admittedly something needs to be done to help people who dont have off street parking - workplace initiatives, charging clubs, kerbocharge etc.

Hence why solutions like #kerbocharge being approved nationwide would revolutionise EV uptake @edmiliband.bsky.social

What the government should do @edmiliband.bsky.social is to nationally approve solutions for terraced homes like #Kerbocharge safe cross pavement solutions

Have you seen solutions like Kerbocharge? Disclaimer: founder is a friend of mine. But seems a good solution. Waltham Forest (my LA) also doing a great job putting public chargers in the street not on the pavement

interesting article by jasperjolly.bsky.social as I live in chesterfield with an EV. At the moment we are happy with charging provision as we are close to the large hubs and with no driveway. Something like Kerbocharge would be ideal
