Dazzled by Songs of the Bulbul at Birmingham Hippodrome tonight. Sensational visual treat by Aakash Odedra Company about Persian nightingales. Beautiful emotional choreography with divine bird-like Kathak moves & striking effects. It won best dance at Edinburgh Festival. Only til Thurs in Brum ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The cultural conflicts were played out at the most caricaturish level when what you needed was more moments like that splendid kathak sequence and personally , it didn’t gel with me that they went from oh it’s a fling for me to shaadi .

Back when I was still making poses I had thought to do a set inspired by Kathak but I don't really feel it's my place to do so nor do I have anyone to consult about it. Still, it would be nice to have poses that reference classical Indian dance forms for characters who draw inspiration from them.

well, he's the most familiar with the classical dance he was taught in his troupe. it's similar to Kathak and he feels more confident in performing that. though I like to pose him doing ballet sometimes, it's not a style of dance he's actually versed in. he admires it plenty though
