If it’s fed and served beer every day during the Christmas season, it will bring you luck, but starve it, and a misfortune will befall the house owners. It can even summon the Wild Hunt.

In Norway, Åsgårdsreia' riders are hollow from behind.

They ride horses with jangling bridles and can be heard from afar. So whoever hear or see them coming on Christmas Eve, should put the cross in their way for protection.

An old Danish divination: at Christmas dinner, place 2 candles on the table to symbolize the master and mistress of the house.

If one of them extinguishes before it’s time, the person it symbolizes will die before the year is over.
