A lesser known Frank Gehry work that I enjoy. The “Icehenge” welcome desk in the lobby of the Inland Steel building in Chicago.

morning up from train at Monroe Dearborn corner greeted by sublime Inland Steel on my way to teach class Gehry’s “Icehenge” security desk shipwrecked in lobby ambushes every time with its eternal reminder: avoid doing something idiotic today

Icehenge, but what if it was an overt monument to my personal ego instead

I think Icehenge by Kim Stanley Robinson is one of the best meditations on this. Also just a great book all around

Icehenge is really good for this too

Struck gold at a used bookstore today for $25. The covers themselves are worth it. Very excited to (eventually) crack into all of these

I read "Icehenge" by KS Robinson recently. Nothing pins a work in time quite like characters using photocopiers in the 25th century.

I also just threw up the second episode of my retrospective of Kim Stanley Robinson's novels: Icehenge. It's free!

On International Workers day, a few reminders
Organized labor's efforts brought you most or all of many things you now take for granted.
the weekend
the 40 hour work-week
and so on.
Tn this new Gilded Age, workers need to stand together more than ever to fight against our technofeudalist oligarchs.

I honestly think this was the future imagined in Kim Stanley Robinson's "Icehenge"...

I’ve read Antarctica, Icehenge, and the California Triptych, as well as the Mars trilogy.

Which KSR did you read? I highly recommend Icehenge by him. Others have said LeGuin and I agree. The first Dune book is legit great. Annihilation (and the whole southern reach trilogy) by Jeff Vandermeer. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. The Sheep Look Up by John Brunner, Way Station by Clifford SImak
