Actually, I think this is correct; nothing from elfcup since 1/14, nothing from truffle since 12/31, nothing from hygrophorus since late november, nothing from rooter since I've been watching

Rosy Brown Waxy Cap (Hygrophorus roseobrunneus) hides a winter wonder: underground mycelial networks quietly linking plants and bolstering resilience. What secrets might these fungal webs unlock? #FungiExplained #WinterMycology #MycelialNetworks

Finally Unexpected find Ashridge Estate. Rare glimpse of Ivory Woodwax Hygrophorus eburneus in favoured Beech Woodland. Just 533 National Records, caps covered in Slime, hence large blobs on stipe. Called Cowboy's Handkerchief in North America #fungifriends

Herald of Winter, Hygrophorus hypothejus.

Seen on yesterday's Norfolk Fungus Study Group foray in Thetford Forest.

Yellow-centered Waxy Cap - Hygrophorus flavodiscus
One of the more cold tolerant mushrooms around. It seems to actually prefer fruiting in November. Most other mushrooms I see in November are growing despite the season rather than because of it.

Gloioxanthomyces vitellinus (Hygrophorus vitellinus, Fries, 1863) Glistening Waxcap. Endangered denizen of unimproved grasslands. The clear, bright egg-yolk yellow of its specific epithet eventually fades to white. Common name alludes to the viscid surface.

A few of the more exciting finds from a recce of Collyweston Great Wood NNR in preparation for a fungus walk I'm co-leading tomorrow. Exciting to find lots of Dog's Stinkhorn and Collared Earth-star while Gold-flecked Woodwax was new to me, growing close to several Solitary Amanita

It's a common find for me at my localities. I still love finding them. Unfortunately I've seen only a few of them this year and I think it's pretty unlikely to find more this season. We have Clitocybe nebularis, Lepista (pardon me, Collybia) nuda, Tricholoma terreum and Hygrophorus lucorum time.

Hygrophorus speciosus - Larch Waxcap
Wouldn't be surprised if these were due for a taxonomy split. Mushrooms that occur in North America and Europe are always suspicious

Hygrophorus queletii, very rare in Czechia and it seems rare in general. Growing with larch (Larix), characteristized by white fruiting bodies with reddish cap center and yellowish gills. Third year in a row I've seen them on locality (mossy pasture edge).
