Let's eat maple flowers,

This is one of those foods that's available in massive quantities but for a limited time. So pick and eat at your leisure. But don't pick more than 20% of any food resource.

they taste like broccoli sprouts!

Also, Mt Prevost is Swuq'us in Hulquminum which refers to Stutsuns dog that the creator provided for him, as told by Quw'utsun elders.

The ancient story of Swuq'us, also known as Mount Prevost
How did Cowichan's famous mountain get its Hul’q’umi’num name?

… I live on the Lands of the Hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking people; specifically the scəw̓aθən (Tsawwassen) and the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam). It’s a dialect related to Halq̓eméylem & Hul̓q̓umín̓um̓… similar BUT diff lexicons & writing systems!

So it abs gets complex!! But what a priv to learn all of this too! ☺️ 4/4

Good morning from the largest recorded #arbutus #madrone on settler-named #vancouverisland. She is the matriarch of thr #garryoak land. Her #hulquminum name is #qaanlhp. As a beginner #hulquminum learner, I’m using it as I can. #gratitude

Considering Hul’q’umi’num people are still negotiating a treaty with Canada, it's disrespectful to claim their products as "Canadian": www.bctreaty.ca/hulquminum-t...
If they want to be Canadian that's their business, but please don't use First Nations as rhetorical cover for Canadian nationalism.
