Still 24 degrees in Hobsonville Point. Love me a warm evening

I get there occasionally while doing Coastguard duty (ironically had been there on Saturday) but S hadn’t been for ages so we went Gulf Harbour to Rakino for a swim, bbq etc. then cruised past Motuihe, Rangitoto, central city, harbour bridge and upper harbour to Hobsonville.

We had S’s almost 11 yr old niece staying with us at short notice & needed to get her to her mum in Hobsonville. Niece asked if we could go out in the boat for a bit so we combined that with dropping her in Hobsonville - an excuse to visit the inner harbour.

Little Creatures Brewery in Hobsonville is right beside the Catalina Bay Markets but doesn’t open til 12. If it was earlier they could make a killing from parent friends with 12pm nap times to live by 😂

Sunderlands at Hobsonville The aircraft were operated by the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) and later by the New Zealand National Airways Corporation for transport and passenger services.  The Short Sunderland was a military long-range maritime reconnaissance flying boat widely used during the Second World War.  The Short Sandringham was a civilian version of the military Sunderland.  The aircraft operated from bases including Hobsonville, Auckland, and Lauthala Bay, Fiji, from the 1940s to the 1960s.

Just ordered a console table from Ikea's website and it was $29 to get it delivered to a collection point such as Mainfreight Hobsonville (other options incl $0 for click and collect or an after-hours locker, $49 for home delivery). Also a $42.94 option to get my purchase "professionally assembled"

lol, true. Maybe that’s a thing for a Friday evening trip home :)

(the other option of course is the Western and then up past Hobsonville, but that is particularly boring motorway riding, which is never my thing)

We live in Hobsonville so the Q is always: Police or military?

Usually Police.

A sign has been installed in middle of cycle lane in Hobsonville 🪧😱

This is more than a 'contractor mistake' - it's a complete lack of common sense and poor process.

I love this neighbourhood! It’s my absolute favourite outside Central Auckland, if only I could afford Hobsonville.

This is really cool ... and gets to part of why Hobsonville is probably my favourite Auckland neighbourhood outside of the centre city.

This business was setup by a chap I used to work with back in my Mighty Ape days. Warehouse is at Hobsonville so shipping shouldn’t take long. I haven’t used the service, but I suspect it will be like the Mighty Ape of old bookhero.co.nz

Mum and I took the ferry across to Hobsonville Point for lunch and a wander to the playground with my bestie & her 4 kids (yay for strike day!) My hash benedict with halloumi was yum. And I was blown away by this magnificent kāruhiruhi statue/lookout point/slide!

Bit of slope there

I had an idea for a branch line from the Sh16 motorway to Te Atatu peninsula. Then keep going north over the water and through Hobsonville

ain't even gotta do a tunnel, just chuck a rail-only bridge from Swanson, alongside the Greenhithe bridge, follow SH 16/18, connect Massey University, Hobsonville, Albany at about 1/2 the price of going under the harbour, and serving 2x the people.
