@gigaclear ... why has my broadband just gone down? I thought all your cables were underground ... not sure how a thunderstorm could cause that ... went off at about 17.50 suddenly ... Boars Hill/Wootton area ... please tell me what's going on.

When I asked GigaClear -you've seen the infuriating TV ads - about fibre they told me my house didn't exist. And amazingly, based on Google Streetview from 2006, they were right! But it does now.
So they some lads out to install it and apparently there should be a "pot" on the verge but alas...

So I got a letter from EE/BT saying “congratulations: we can now offer full fibre internet all the way to your house” and like an excited boy at Christmas I phoned the number on the letter to ask for more
