I was going to use XSLT to convert between two configuration files, just for the lulz.

But then I looked at the XSLT examples and smiled no more.

GeoIP-Aware Firewalling with PF on FreeBSD

My mail server now filters client ports by geography - SMTP stays global, but IMAP only accepts connections from Central Europe.

Result: 90% fewer brute-force attempts.

One of the biggest untold lies in the gaming industry is that people apparently think that the Switch is based on freeBSD and that the Switch 2 runs a different OS.

They run the same OS, but it’s not based on freeBSD at all. It only uses a couple of BSD modules.

Hmm.. looks like the quarterly pkg repo on 14.x freebsd is having issues. Getting some constraint violations with the sqlite3 database on a pkg update even when forcing or deleting them. Ended up switching to latest on this box. (ARM AWS instance)

@ rubenerd While we're extolling the virtues of Xfce, here's a screenshot from Feb 2005 of me playing around with Xfce in the FreeSBIE FreeBSD live CD. https:// web.archive.org/web/2005013108 5523/http://freesbie.org/ # xfce # freebsd

There's a Fediverse platform that I'd like to explore - and it's PieFed - by @rimu - on FreeBSD. Stay Tuned!

Ah endlich. Die zweite Auflage der überaus nützlichen Sammlung von Tipps und der kompakte Überflug über grundlegende Netzwerkthemen von @mwl , machen das Buch zu einem nützlichen Begleiter auf dem Schreibtisch.

Anyone here tried using a Dasung e-ink monitor for development work? I'm considering buying one so I can use my Framework laptop outside (the LCD panel is only really good enough for cloudy days or shade). # dasung # eink # linux # freebsd # monitors

I can't tell if this is a bot, or an actual FreeBSD nerd somewhere in Switzerland who stubbornly refuses to update to a Firefox newer than 3.6.8 because it breaks their setup and they would need to recompile the kernel or something

I like it. Its more polished than FluxBox and BackBox that I used to use extensively back in the day. I'm currently running it on my #FreeBSD system (and KDE5 on Slackware Stable)

My ShareFSServer runs on:

- #Mac Intelx64/ ARM64
- #Windows Intel 32 /64
- #Linux #Intel 32/64, #ARM 32/64, #RISC-V 64
- #FreeBSD Intel 32/ 64
- #NetBSD Intel 32 / 64

It's obviously memory safe, multi-threaded and use async I/O
