#mysql
TIL that "My" in MySQL is not a possessive adjective but the name of the daughter of the main author of the database Michael Widenius.

thank you! 🩷

yeah, mysql is the first database i ever used and i've had it in production in different projects since 2017.

it's not as bad as sqlite but i'm slowly fed up with it. postgres isn't perfect but it's so much better out of the box.

the @furryli.st db is 89 GB on postgres and it's fine!

name confusions I like:

- "Elo" (rating) is not an acronym, but invented by Arpad Elo
- MySQL was named after the creator's daughter My
- Marie Kondo's name is is "MA-ri-eh", not "muh-REE"
- "German chocolate cake" named after Samuel German (US)
