kinda crazy that this is entirely diy face tracking, you really dont need to spend the money on a headset with it built in anymore.
we are nearly there, just waiting on my leds for my left eye then this is actually finished!

the best innovations in vr have historically been open source and community-driven. the corporations are only starting to lean into eyetracking as standard thanks to years of effort from the eyetrackvr community

shoutout eyetrackvr even tho i built mine wrong and my glasses shine too much to make it work. very hyped to sell my quest 3 for a frame and have had no reason to buy the stuff for this, but it was a fun little project anyway

This is the software side, EyeTrackVR is hardware (and my god did they need the software help). I'm on a bsb2e so the hardware is built in for me.

There is currently a project going around called "Paper Tracker" that sells a mouth tracker and a single eye tracker attachment that should work with almost any headset. Using software from EyeTrackVR and project babble.
I think it's only sold in Japan ATM so import fees... But it's promising!

not my best calibration but hey it works, ik my cam isnt the clearest either im gonna work on that eventually :3

It's camera-based like EyeTrackVR, I don't know if you can actually pick up those camera feeds but if you can then it should work using EyeTrackVR instead of Bigscreen's own app, and EyeTrackVR was looking into eyebrow tracking and pupil dilation. So it's possible it'll have that eventually

Honestly at this point I just wanna pay someone to assemble the mini LED kit for me. I’m just having no luck with getting my kit working at all and I’m just too tired to continue and try to get this working.

Looking into adding EyeTrackVR and Project Babble to my Quest 1, if anyone's got any tips/advice please reach out to me. I'd prefer a setup that's got all the components for both in one box on the headset, and connecting to the PC wirelessly (either on its own or through the headset).

i ordered a soldering iron and the 3d printed mounts. I already have all of the necessary components. EyeTrackVR i am COMING 4 U :neodog_peek_knife:

Have been quite a bit busy lately (work and other big things soon!) but decided it'd be fun to add face and eyetracking onto my Index using a slightly modified version of Physics-Dude's design (on github) for an EyeTrackVR + Project Babble dongle. Could've done a better 3d print job but it works ok!

You can tell if someone's an enthusiast VRchat user cause their headset ends up looking like a fucking pipe bomb with all the mods and DIY repairs on it.
Here's mine, yes I still use a Quest 1. Not full jank just yet but the excess cable for my IEMs wrapped around my replacement top strap helps.
