We achieved a reduction of on site gas emissions of >96% for 8 months and 100% for 7 months. This was achieved by swapping out a gas stove, AC and gas water heater for induction, a 3-season HVAC heat pump and domestic water heat pump. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Using existing technology, we can significantly reduce our home emissions. I'll post the financial analysis when the Dec. electricity bill arrives, but so far the net cost of operation for the heat pumps & induction appliances with gas backup has been comparable to mixed gas & electric.🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Switching to a 3-season heat pump & shutting off the gas entirely let us reduce our onsite emissions by 100% and thus avoid a net ~1.8 tons of CO2 emissions over 8 months after accounting for emissions from 100% renewable electricity offsite. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Despite continuing to build fossil fuel capacity, new renewable capacity added is allowing China to meet all or nearly all of their demand growth. Because renewables are cheaper to operate, they queue earlier than fossil fuel capacity. The outcome will thus be further reduction in emissions. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
