Having finally played Divinity Original Sin 2, I have to admit that I find BG3 less impressive and am no longer surprised that they tried to integrate genAI for DOS3. BG3 is a shinier reskinned version of DOS2 and it seems to me theyre probably insecure about their ability to produce original work.

wdym? Rogue trader has free updates and paid dlc just like owlcat's previous title. Afaik BG3 doesn't have dlc since "it wouldn't fit" (larian moved on to Dos3)

It's very fitting that the DOS3 trailer was a king being Wicker Man'd, the thing that happens when a monarch presides over a famine so they are ritualistically sacrificed to bring a good harvest, as punishment both for their failure and proof of their lack of divinity

Specifically for DOS3 but BG3 being bought now would just fuel that mindset in the CEO/management
Reminder the artists did push ack enough that the CEO commented on it so its just a "try not to lose your job" for the artists. I definitely feel for them

Larian had to release patches and hotfixes for 18 months to essentially finish their game. GenAI will absolutely be in DOS3 at launch.

While I was hoping for it to be DOS3, given that Divinity II was in 2009 and is still pretty solid, Larian is going to crush this.

Now that Divinity has been announced maybe I'll try finishing DOS3 instead of getting half way through, taking a break, then restarting because i got lost.

Possibly, but my guess is it’s a mixture of a, not scaring off their new fans, and b, they’ll be introducing BG3-style conversation cameras and DOS3 would imply it’ll be fully top-down

M: 100% hyped for Divinity Original Sin 3
bg3 was great, but i had so many issues with its plot (because of forced continuation of 20 year old series that was OVER and didn't need a sequel) and it really interfered with my enjoyment of the game
but DOS3 won't have this issue and it's so GOOD

I'm curbing my enthusiasm when it comes to DOS3. Yes Larian makes great games, but the way Wyll was treated (both in game and in their advertisement/social media) was extremely disappointing. Gave me the ick and big red flags tbqh. I'll wait to see how characters of color are treated.

Really, were it not for DoS2's base armor system, I think I'd give it flowers over BG3, but the inability to properly have a hybrid party hurts a lot.
